It is reported by History.com that the first commercial passenger flight using jet aircraft occurred on May 2,1952. The aircraft used was a de Havilland Comet flown by British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC).

The 44-seat Comet 1A, transported paying passengers from London to Johannesburg.
